Nothing too exciting to post this week except......

It's official.
I am making Katie's Wedding GOWN!!!!!
and my mom and I are doing her engagement and bridal pictures,
the flowers,
and possibly the cake!

I AM SO EXCITED!!!!
My best friend is GETTING MARRIED!

it feels like just yesterday that we were both lonely together-watching Heroes-eating cookie dough-in New York City.....It was such a blessing to meet Katie! We are practically the same person and I just love her so dang much. I am going to miss her when she moves to Salt Lake City but I am also certain that we will be friends FOR LIFE! There is no question in my mind about that!

In other news...

My mom and Bain returned from NYC early Saturday morning.

My lessons in church today were on Eternal Marriage-always a fun topic in the singles ward.
I found this quote that I really like from President Eyring

“I give counsel to husbands and wives. Pray for the love which allows you to see the good in your companion. Pray for the love that makes weaknesses and mistakes seem small. Pray for the love to make your companion’s joy your own. Pray for the love to want to lessen the load and soften the sorrows of your companion.”

Happy Sunday.

the perfect image of summer...

j.crew + crab = perfection

This is precisely why I am living on the East Coast one day. Crab.... all the time. YUMMMMMMY!

p.s. sorry for the lack of outfit pictures... my mom has been out of town which means.. I have no one to take my pictures.

my dad took these two and they are all I have...

Outfit 1
-Dress: J.Crew. one of those steals where I think it was marked down wrong because online it was marked down to only about $50 but I saw it come out of no where when I was making my second rounds around Rockefeller Center's J.Crew last year and it was only $19.99... WHAT? I didn't even try it on, I was on my way to check out and it was a small so I grabbed it and it was a good day!
-Cardigan: Urban Outfitters. again... it will never be to warm for me to wear a cardigan. I love them.
-Belt/Sash: J.Crew. It's adorable. I bought it on sale when I was in the depths of despair at FIT.
-Shoes: farlyrobin @Kaleidoscope. I should have taken an up close picture-I will next time. They are surprisingly pink (NOT my color) with sequins on them. I bought them for my Senior Dinner Dance.

senior dinner dance-2008

Outfit 2
-Sweater: J.Crew. Factory. Navy-lightweight-nautical-LOVE.
-Jeans: Hudson. my favorite brand. They fit again! YAY!
-Shoes: J.Crew. cute little brown bow shoes. Sample Sale. couldn't resist.
-Headband: aBree Original. Oh my headband making days...... I've made close to 500 probably. I am so sick of headbands haha. I hardly wear them anymore. But I really LOVE this one. all my nautical colors-classy and summer fresh.

p.p.s. also, sorry that my blog hasn't been too exciting lately. There is a certain boy who is taking up most of my free time.......and that is okay with me!

I mean really-how can you resist this??? (he is going to kill me for posting this but these are some of the new J.Crew clothes he got along with his new Sperry Top-Siders... and since this blog has lots of fashion in it I thought I would feature him. Hopefully he takes it as a compliment!)

p.p.p.s. note to self.... it is perfectly normal to get a girls number at the temple.. situation: If you are an unmarried temple worker and see a cute girl doing baptisms you just need to ask an old man who works at the temple too to tell her "if you could leave your first name and number at the front desk when you leave there is a young man here who works at the temple who would love to have it!"............YES. That DID happen. hahaha. oh marriage. the things we do to follow the prophet.

p.p.p.p.s. I love RUMBI. Their salads and their sweet potato fries. I have been craving them like CRAZY so on Monday night my dad and I went there for dinner! Yummy.

p.p.p.p.p.s. look how cute this bride is that I just posted about on Avenia's blog. Check it out!

SO festive we are!

Happy 4th of July weekend.

mood board I made for Avenia's blog

Saturday I started the day with Talyn and Haley at 7 peaks-laying out and soaking in the warm sun. It was wonderful. After met up with Katie to discuss wedding plans and have lunch. Kneaders-Turkey Cranberry Sunflower Salad-YUM. Then Tay and I did a little shopping before we went to Stadium of Fire. Taylor and his family invited me to go with them and it was a blast!! I haven't been for YEARS and it was a lot of fun. The entertainment was wonderful and the fireworks were AWESOME!

I felt so proud to be an American. Though our country is not perfect and it is very flawed we still have it so good here! We have FREEDOM. As we were saying the pledge I found it beautiful that EVERYONE knows it. Old and young alike knew every word and were stating the pledge with pride.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag
of the United States of America,
and to the republic for which it stands,
one nation under God,
indivisible,
with liberty,
and justice for all."

and here... my favorite patriotic song

The lyrics of all our patriotic songs are of hope and courage. We fought for our rights and we stand united in this great land-one nation, under God.

another one of my favorites

Today I went to church and though sadly we didn't sing any of our patriotic hymns for some reason.... I still felt the Spirit so strong. God is with us, He loves this nation. I would love to share some spiritual insights I received today that can relate to our country as a whole or to us individually...

-The Lord didn't set us up to fail. We can handle whatever comes our way. Mosiah 24:14 "I will ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye ay stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I the Lord God, do visit my people in afflictions."

-The Lord is in charge-He leads and directs us.

-God knows us-He answers our prayers. He pays attention and knows what we need.

-FEAR. We all have it and we all must overcome it. Have courage! Put faith in the Lord because faith is the only thing that can overcome fear. Go forward with FAITH.

-Heavenly Father is aware. His plan is perfect-He puts people and circumstances in our lives to help us grow. He only wants us to be happy.

-God will save us.

Today's lessons were all about hope, love, and faith. Fear not, love always, and go forward with faith. That is my prayer for all.

Today is a special day...

It is my sisters BIRTHDAY!!!!!
Miss Bainy turns 15 today!
She is in NYC so I can't spend this day with her....which makes me sad.
We will just have to celebrate next weekend when she comes home.
Bain is wonderful, beautiful, kind, amazing, talented, and loving.
Happy Birthday Bain!
I LOVE YOU.
