It is beautiful today and this weekend... I can't decide what to do. Go outside and enjoy the city or sit inside and do my homework...

If I go out it will de-stress me until I think about all the assignments I should be doing... but if I stay in, well, I won't enjoy the weather.. SO... what to do, what to do...

Nothing except 2 assignments are technically due next week.. it is all stuff I should do to stay on top of things so Spring Break isn't too crazy. Plus I have week nights to get stuff done that I don't do over the weekend... but I should do my homework.. I just don't want to... Oh what to do?!

I want to walk the highline, the hudson, central park, I want to go to Anthro and use my gift card. I want to lay in the sun in my dress and NO tights! I want to read my new book.

But if I do my homework and get ahead now then I won't have to worry as much over Spring Break... But then again, all of my friends are gone for break, except Katie but her sister will be in town, so... I will have nothing to do except homework. Well I'll re-phrase that, I can do some little things everyday in the city, but also do some work every day...

Why am I so indecisive.

AND I think it is suppose to get cold again over Spring Break... BUT I also don't really want to do anything by myself today, so I guess I am waiting on Katie and Emily to see if they are busy. Maybe I should do homework tonight and play all day tomorrow?...

I think I am the laziest person alive.. I'll probably sit here deciding all day and end up doing NOTHING! haha but seriously.

I love to see the Temple

Oh thank you Manhattan Temple and the lovely ladies in Relief Society for putting on such a wonderful worth-while and needed evening.

Baptisms. The worker said something amazing today, he said, Listen to the names of those you are doing work for because they WILL remember your name, and you WILL remember theirs. Some have waited 100s and 100s of years, they have believed it for a long time and have just been waiting, patiently for us here on earth to make the slight 2 hour max effort to break away from our worldly life and partake in the beauties of our Heaven here on Earth. I am so grateful for the Temple, and I am so excited to meet all the many daughters of God that I have done work for. To know their name, to know their face, and to experience their joy together.

Food. Love food. Thank you Patsy's for the pasta and pizza! and Brenda for the CAKE from HEAVEN. wow, I think the word of the day is heavenly. White cake with cream cheese/cool whip/vanilla/powdered sugar frosting drizzled with raspberry sauce. Yes, I did have 2 pieces. and yes I am PROUD.

Friends. Jen, Sara, you guys are so beyond sweet. AND of course Emily and Katie, how I do love you guys for being in my life. If it weren't for you guys my life here would........ (I am trying to only be positive and all words that come to mind are negative.. so just fill in the blank yourself..). Emily gave me a great journal tip. She said to, everyday, write 10 things GOOD that happened. Good things you did, you ate, you saw, you experience, anything and all things good. EVERYDAY and realize how great life can be.

Well...I've taken enough "me" time for today, now I really must do my homework, read and study for my Textiles test tomorrow.... wish me luck!

Fluting Project

Here is how I spent my Friday night.

7 hours of hand sewing..

This whole bodice is hand sewn.. and all the strips are bias cut, which basically equals... LOTS of TIME. Also here is the French Lining from a few weeks back, it is HORRIBLY sewn on the inside, please don't examine too hard! The inside of the french lining has strips of boning sewn in which allows the strapless dress to stay up! Basically the whole dress isn't due until after our huge Valentino term garment is due, so the finished product won't be up until May. Here is what I have though.
Eventually there will be a skirt attached to the fluted bodice (the first picture) which will then be attached to the French Lining (above picture) which will give the dress support to stay on the body when worn.

LOVE

Crumbs...

Peanut Butter Cup, Brownie, S'mores... Mmmm...

my battle against TIME

Do you ever wish you could just STOP TIME?!!

I am sure you all have.. we are all human but seriously I feel like I never even have time to think my own thoughts, to digest what I am learning, to form my own feelings and conclusions about things... and even if I do in the short hours in the morning or right before I fall asleep, I don't have time to write them down. I used to write in a journal everyday, I would force myself to write a WHOLE page, that way I was forced to write more than what I just did that day, I was forced to think and ponder about my feelings and experiences. Though now time does not permit me to do that, I wonder if the 30 mins. less sleep it would give me is a fine sacrifice for the possible blessings I will receive later.. Even though I know I am already not getting enough but I am growing immensly at this time and learning and experiencing so much that I feel I am cutting myself short by not writing it down so I can later go back and remember, re-live, re-learn. I am having the time of my life, I am growing up, and yet the feelings I had from last Wedensday are completely lost and distorded due to what happened Thursday. If you don't write down and remember at the moment, it's gone...

So what is more important, the memories I can remember through merely experiencing or the little things that really play into the big picture but get lost... are they that important then?

Was the walk I had last Wednesday with Emily on the High-line important enough for me to write down? Because that break from life gave me a while to think, to talk, to laugh, to wish, to hope, to remember how immense my blessings are in my life. It gave me time to think about my family, and friends, those close to me, those I want in my life forever. I came home feeling happier and less stressed, more exhilarated than I have been in a very long time. That time away from homework was completely worth it, the thoughts I had while on my walk were important and greatly needed, yet, I don't remember all the details of my thoughts, I didn't write them down and now they are gone. Lost. I only remember that it was a good night, is that good enough?

So like all questions in life... both answers are right, but which is better, which will enhance my life and yet not pull me behind, how much ME time is necessary before it becomes selfish and just an excuse to slack off...

Sleeping or Journal Writing?
Homework or Yoga?
Salad or Ice Cream?

I am so grateful for the old journal entries that I do have... I have been able to re-live some of my favorite memories. Times with my family, times with my best friend Taylor, times with my other dear friends. I have been able to re-live mistakes, arguments, hard times and learn from them, realize what I did wrong, how I contributed to the mess and I have been able to promise myself that I have changed, that I wouldn't do it again.

So I guess since talking, or in this case, writing the situation out always helps define a clear answer I have decided what I need to do...

I will only live though this time in my life once, I will only go to this particular lecture, this particular place, activity, etc once in my life. Feelings are unique, special, personal, and helpful and I am making a goal to make time...sorry..making time is absolutely impossible unless I am Hermione or Hiro so I guess the better term would be to simply just do it and deal with the time later. I will write in my journal, a whole page, every day. EVEN and especially if nothing exciting happened that day. If that means I get less sleep, or have to repeat an event again for at least the 5th  time (the previous times being to my Mom, Taylor, Talyn, my blog, and usually some other lucky individuals) then that is okay. If I discover it is worthless and that it doesn't matter then I'll stop but for now it is my goal. Because way too often I think, "dang, I should have written my feelings down" and honestly in retrospect you can NEVER remember EXACTLY how you felt.

So time... I am here to battle you and WIN. I am busy, way too busy, honestly when I am out of school I don't know how I will function with all my free time, Sundays, if you weren't filled with dance practice I don't even know what I would do for myself for a whole day. I am used to busy, I like busy, but I have lost myself this semester. I have lost all ME time, and it is ONLY going to get worse with all my events coming up in the next 2-3 months

Valentino Dress
Drawing/Design portfolio
FIT Dance Team concert
All the other 7 of my classes final projects
Graduation
Study Abroad
Planning of my FUTURE (living arrangements, internships, jobs, school etc.)

But that is my life, that is what I will want to remember, that is what I will want to have written down. My thought process, my melt downs, my highs, my lows, my everything... It is what makes me, ME. and THAT is important.

So today is DAY #1 of my many attempts to continue my journal writing while here in NYC. But this attempt is OFFICIAL. I can't back down. I have already lost SO SO MUCH! Even if I never read my entries again, like I said and like you can see through this post, sometimes just writing/talking things out is the best thing...

and it is usually just what you need most.

The SECRET

Let me share with you a gem of a secret, from my favorite book... The Secret. Here is an excerpt...

The Secret to Your Body

1st. If you focus on losing weight, you will attract back having to lose more weight, so get "having to lose weight" out of your mind.

2nd. The condition of being overweight was created through your thought to it. To put it in the most basic terms, if someone is overweight, it came from thinking "fat thoughts," whether that person was aware of it or not. A person cannot think "thin thoughts" and be fat. It completely defies the law of attraction.

The most common thought that people hold is that food is responsible for weight gain. That is a belief that does not serve you. Food is not responsible for putting on weight. It is you thought that food is responsible for putting on weight that actually has food put on weight. Remember, thoughts are primary cause of everything, and the rest is effects from those thoughts. Think perfect thoughts and the result must be perfect weight.

Let go of all those limiting thoughts. Food cannot cause you to put on weight, unless you think it can.

You most likely know of someone who is think and eats like a horse, and they proudly declare, "I can eat whatever I want and I am always the perfect weight." And so the Genie of the Universe says, "Your wish is my command!"

To attract YOUR perfect weight and body follow these steps:

 1. ASK
Get clear on the weight you want to be. Have a picture in your mind of what you will look like when you have become that perfect weight. Find pictures and look at them often.

2. BELIEVE
You must believe you will receive and that the perfect weight is yours already. You must imagine, pretend, act as if, make-believe, that the perfect weight is yours. You must see yourself as receiving that perfect  weight.

3. RECEIVE
You must feel good. You must feel good about You. This is important, because you cannot attract you perfect weight if you feel bad about your body now. If you feel bad about your body that is a powerful feeling, and you will continue to attract feeling bad about your body. You will never change your body if you are critical of it and find fault with it, and in fact you will attract more weight to you. Praise and bless every square inch of your body. Think about all the perfect things about You, you are on the frequency of your perfect weight, and you are summoning perfection.

Eating Tip. When you eat, make sure you are entirely focused on the experience of chewing the food. Keep your mind present and experience the sensation of eating food, and do not allow your mind to drift to other things. Be present in your body and enjoy all the sensations of chewing the food in your mouth and swallowing it. When you are completely present as you eat, the flavor of the food is so intense and magnificent; when you let your mind drift, the flavor virtually disappears. I am convinced that if we can eat our food in the present, entirely focused on the pleasurable experience of eating, the food is assimilated into our bodies perfectly, and the result in our bodies must be perfection.

REALLY good weekend!

So this week was very intense and stressful, playing catch up and working hard everyday to get my stuff done so this weekend I planned the perfect events needed to help me relax and stay happy.

Friday @ 5 I met up with Katie and we went to our lovely paradise J.CREW. Everything about the store makes me happy, it inspires, it is beautiful, it is PERFECT. Absolutely perfect. I picked up a few belated birthday presents and am beaming with joy!

We then made our way to our 3rd Paradise (1st being J.CREW, 2nd being Serendipity) Magnolia Bakery for BANANA PUDDING. Honestly one of the greatest reasons to live in NYC or to visit NYC is to try this pudding. NO LIE.

Since I had never had a Gray's Papaya hot dog here in the city which again is on the to-do list of most tourists, we decided to go there for dinner, dinner under $5.00. Yes, please.

Our goal was to find a 'Granny B' cookie, on our quest we were unsuccessful (good thing we picked up our  pudding) and we found a few other treasures like 'bueno bars' hazelnut deliciousness from Europe, and Cadbury Creme Eggs!

As we ate our lovely treats we looked at the amazing blog greenweddingshoes.blogspot.com

On Saturday I went to my belated birthday brunch with my friend Carrie from school. We went down to Prince St. and ate at Cafe Habana. It was a BEAUTIFUL day outside, finally! We did a little shopping and roaming around while enjoying the pretty streets of downtown and the great weather.

(Yes, I know my 2-0 is backwards.... oops. I was not paying attention)

After we went up to Parsons for a fashion show between FIT and Parsons students. A couple of my friends participated in the show and it was really well done. There were 15 designers from each school, and each did a 5 piece collection. It was done a little like Project Runway.

Since my lovely roomie, Hannah, gave me a gift card to Pinkberry for my birthday, me and Carrie walked down there and enjoyed some frozen yogurt. I got my inspiration from my sis Bain, and put raspberries, mochi, and honey roasted sunflower seeds (she usually puts almonds, but I can never resist sunflower seeds). They had grapefruit for a topping that I will definitely have to try next time. Yum Yum Yum. I continued to search for Granny B's and Cadbury mini eggs, with no luck.... sad story.

BUT it is okay because I went to Katie's for dinner. We made Blueberry bread French Toast, (thanks for the idea, Emily, we miss you by the way when you go home to Jersey) with berries, brown sugar, and syrup. HEAVENLY.

We went on a walk to the store to pick up a needed ingredient and I found flavored soft licorice that my mom used to get, Darrell Lea, but we found it in Mango. WOW best flavor I have ever tried EVER. SO happy!

Then, thanks to Trader Joe, we ate Guilt Free individual size, microwavable brownie delight! Made with yogurt. It was AMAZING and Fat Free, Guilt Free, basically PERFECT.

Of course we did this all while watching the greatest movie known to man.... STAR TREK! Yes, I LOVE this movie, it is my FAVORITE and I can't wait until the next one. Not only are Christ Pine and Zachary Quinto absolutely gorgeous, but it is really just a great movie.

I basically can't wait until Katie and I move out together so we can do this all the time and one of us doesn't have to take the subway home after!

It was a good night, a good weekend.

A few of my favorite things... ALL OF THE ABOVE!

Basically if you think I eat way too unhealthy or way too many sweets you should pick up a copy of 'The Secret'. "You can think your way to the perfect state of health, the perfect body, the perfect weight... You can bring it into being, through your consistent thinking of perfection." Really it is TRUE and this book CHANGED my life.

3 A.M.

My EPIC birthday event....

I fell asleep early, still not feeling well, at 11, everything was all good, perfect considering my circumstances......

Then 3:00 AM I get a rude awakening to the most HORRID sound in the universe... the fire alarm, which would be fine if it was there to save my life but no..... We all had to evacuate the building, in the 12 inches of snow, in the middle of the night, with completely stupid people who "didn't have time" to grab their pants or put shoes on even though it is FREEZING outside. Funny, I managed to put my sweats, rain boots, and coat on....to each their own I guess...

The alarm was either a drill which means someone deserves a good spank since it is 3 in the morning, on a snow day, and a friday OR someone on the 4th floor burned their toast or popcorn like last time.

Basically after staying outside for 20 mintues... no fire... I got the wonderful opportunity of going back inside where no one checked ID's so basically anyone was welcome, and some of my roommates never remember to lock the door... either I am lucky to live on the 13th floor where if someone wanted to kill us they would probably start on the lower levels since the elevators were temporarily out of order OR I am seriously in danger because why not start on the 13th floor?! It is already a creepy number.

Oh did I mention I had to walk up all 13 flights of stairs...

Ya so that is how I spent the rest of my birthday, as I was climbing the stairs I did get to listen to my bestie Talyn sing to me on my voice mail, so thanks Tal, love you!

This post is for my Mommy, so she can spend my birthday with me
I woke up and looked outside to find that it kept snowing all night and.... SCHOOL is CANCELED. which in my case didn't really matter because I only had one class. but... I can't complain. Then I made myself some French Toast! With Magleby's syrup so it is basically like I was there... kind of... haha Serendipity will make up for it though! YUMMY and read my Happy Birthday letter from Elder Wilkins

Then I opened my package from my dear FAMILY, thank you! My healthy snacks along with some rolos (I always need SOME chocolate) and my Rice Crispy Cake!!! YAY I haven't had my crispies in over 6 months... I AM SO HAPPY. Bain gave me her face, Sy gave me a sweet shirt he made, yes, he made, and I finally got my Michael Kors watch I've been wanting for over a year.

I didn't do much, just lazed around all day which was perfect. I went to Serendipity with Emily and Katie. And it was PERFECT! YUM YUM YUM. Ravioli and my favorite sundae! Nothing is better than Serendipity! They even put candles on my sundae! YAHOO.

Now I have the BIGGEST SUGAR RUSH EVER!!!! I feel so sick haha but it was SO WORTH IT, I always eat way too much. It probably didn't help that I'm not even over my cold yet... but oh well it was delicious.
