Tuesday was a good day-full of a feeling I guess I feel a lot but.. in a different way. Let me try to explain..
Once upon a time I had a lot of friends-mostly guys friends. I tend to get along very well with boys and not as much with girls. So throughout Jr. High and High School I mostly surrounded myself with guy friends and I didn't realize until today how much I truly miss them in my life. You see.... almost every one of them is on a mission. Mostly when I miss, it is for one particular boy but today I missed my boys in general. It made me seriously so sad that I don't have the connection that I used to with them anymore and... I probably never will again. I am depressed at the thought of possibly never really being truly close with them due to the marriage fact that will sometime be applied to my life... it is hard to have guy friends once you have YOUR ONE GUY...ya know? The other thing I realized is that almost all of my friends I met in Junior High. I think that is really awesome. Besides my dance girls, a lucky few from OHS, and my NYC lovelies-every friend is a friend from years ago... when I was between 12-15 years old.
The reason this came up is because I discovered that a long lost crush, Alex, from 9th grade was in my Accounting class. He went to a different High School than me and we didn't stay in contact. We decided to meet, he recently returned home from his mission in Zimbabwe. Seeing and talking with him made me realize how much I miss male company. We talked about all the people we used to hang out with and I thought they deserved a little recognition on this blog of mine. After meeting with Alex I came home to the happy surprise of a letter from South Africa, actually Botswana, from a dear Elder Graham. I then got a call from Elder Wilkins mom which was a wonderful surprise as well. Today was filled with unexpected communication that I didn't realize I needed.
SO here's to the boys who made my LIFE growing up.
Greg May- Gregory is a stud. He went to the Concepcion Chile Mission and returned home last summer. We met and became friends in 8th grade. We had our moment of "going out" as well and in high school we went to a couple school dances together. I truly am a horrible person because I am lazy and never hang out with people..... I have talked with but haven't seen Gregory since I've been home. Favorite memories: Jr. High sewing class! and our SWEET prom car and his mad driving skills.

Elder Joey Brown- Currently serving in the Tokyo, Japan Mission. I am pretty sure our relationship started in 8th grade when we "went out" haha (because 14 year old's can do that?? ha). In Junior High it was Mercedes, Joey, Me, and Brandon-best friends-we wanted to live next to each other and be friends forever. We'd all cuddle for fun and watch Disney movies on the weekends it was the best! We went to Jr. Prom together in High School and had so many fun adventures our first year of college.
8th grade 2004, Jr Prom 2007 |
Elder Brandon Harvey- Currently serving in the San Antonio, Texas Mission. Brandon was always the one with the constant HUGE white smile on his face which was contagious. He always knew how to have fun. His white pants and loving personality always made for good company. We met when we were in 8th grade and hung out a lot in 9th grade, 11th grade, and my freshmen year at BYU. We'd always party with Mr. Joey Brown. We were the 3 musketeers. The hikes, the cookies, the adventures were amazing and I loved them.

Brandon and Joey-Fall/Winter 2008-2009 |
Preston Sellers- This kid and I had many adventures together, most included trips down to Wayne County to see my lovely Gavin and Brick. I met Preston in 7th grade but I didn't start hanging out with him until him and my best friend Mercedes dated which was all throughout 9th and 10th grade. We've spent many weekends together with our significant others. He introduced me to Dashboard Confessionals and Fried Ice Cream-which forever changed my life!

Alex Madsen- As mentioned above, I officially met and starting hanging out with Alex in 9th grade. We were both shy and once we split schools we didn't really see each other.I am hoping that will change now that we are re-acquainted because he is really such an awesome guy. Haha I definitely was awesome though in 9th grade, I one time got Alex to play the guitar for me, it was like the best day of my Jr. High career.
haha the only pictures I have of Alex and me-2005 |
My 15th Birthday Party! |
Gavin Anderson and Brick Petty- These two are some of my favorite people, they live in Loa (located in Wayne County Utah) and we met the summer before my sophomore year at EFY. They both recently returned home from their missions. Gavin from the same mission as Taylor, NY NY North, and Brick from NY NY South. Yes-I knew many missionaries in the NY NY mission! As often as possible I'd meet up with these two. Some adventures include: Magleby's, Rodeo, Taking Back Sunday Concert, their band concerts, Brick's school play...etc. The 2-3 hour drive is well worth a visit to these two. In fact me and Preston are keeping up the tradition again and going down this Sunday for Brick's homecoming.
Gavin, Brick, Preston-Junior Year |
Brick 2007, Brick/Gavin 2006, Gavin 2008, Brick/Gavin 2009 |
Elder Taylor Wilkins- Mr. Tay Tay and I met the 2nd day of our sophomore year and have been friends ever since. We ranged from the title of boyfriend/girlfriend, friends, best friends, trying to not be friends, angry and jealous friends.... and everything in between haha. Basically he was weaved into my life since the day I met him in some sort of way. I guess we cared too much about each other to ever fully let the other one go. Currently he is my best friend and he is serving in the NY, NY North Mission (Bronx)-Spanish Speaking. Taylor has influenced and blessed my life probably more than any other person on earth. We've invested a lot of time in each other and therefore he means very much to me.
Halloween Dance 2005, Soph. Slide 2006, Prom 2006, Sweethearts 2007, 2007, Prom 2008, Graduation, Valentines Day 2009, Traditions Ball 2009, Farewell 2009 |
Elder Ryan Graham- I didn't meet Ryan til I was a Senior. He was a friend of a friend and was in my Calculus class. I thought he dressed SO NICELY and I just knew I had to get to know him! We went to Preference together and remained friends throughout high school. His mission letters are so great, like I said he is in South Africa, Johannesburg Mission but is currently in Botswana.

Well..... now the men in my life have some recognition. I was truly blessed to have so many amazing people in my life. Naturally there are other people as well but these people are ones who I still keep in contact with, who I wrote on their missions etc.
I miss you all and all the times we had together.
NOW that I have literally wasted WAY too much time NOT doing homework.. I better get back to it. Blah... I just needed a little break. Tuesday's events made me realize that I needed to document these people or I'd forget one day (not to mention the trip down memory lane also landed me at Lakeridge Junior High Tuesday night for Bain's choir concert. Ha-talk about coincidence. I haven't been in that school forever!)
